a gift to the faith community, camp, agency, or pooled endowment fund of your choice can leave a legacy of love and care.
“The kingdom of God … is like a mustard seed, which … is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” (Mark 4:31-32)
One person can make a tremendous difference in helping to grow God’s kingdom on earth. Just as one seed grows into a plant that can bring life to many, the gifts we plant today can create life-giving blessings that endure.
YOUR LOCAL FAITH COMMUNITY
Many churches have existing endowment funds, and almost all are welcome to the creation of new ones if there’s not an existing one that meets your goals. Contact your pastor, a church trustee, or a member of your church’s endowment committee for more information. Your gift could support:
• Mission Fund – for ministries that bless those within and beyond our local community.
• Building Fund – for maintenance, care, improvements, and construction of physical facilities.
• General Endowment Fund – for special needs and ministries determined by the church leadership.
BISHOP’S MISSIONAL FUND - 4801A
Gifts to this pooled endowment empower our Bishop to respond to unanticipated and immediate financial needs of organizations, initiatives, churches, and persons as they attract or request her/his support. As the spiritual and temporal leader of our Conference, the Bishop will use the income of this fund to be in mission with those he/she encounters who are in need and to offer a sign of hope to fellow members of God’s “sent” community.
Since its establishment in May 2006, this fund has helped to provide:
Supplies for local youth volunteers in mission as they helped people left homeless in the wake of Hurricane Katrina;
Airfare for far-flung siblings in Christ to the memorial service of Tom Dahl, Chancellor of the Alaska Missionary Conference, who died while helping to rebuild a church that had been destroyed by Hurricane Rita;
A safe vehicle for a survivor of domestic violence.
Camp & Retreat Ministries
Many leaders and members of the faith communities we serve have deep connections to the United Methodist Camps in our area. “A tremendous number of calls take place at camp; and the health and vigor of the whole Annual Conference is dependent, to a large extent, on the health and vigor of our camping program.” —Rev.
