As part of an event called “The Art of Dying: a crash course on end-of-life conversations,” our Associate Director Julia Frisbie will be offering a will writing workshop at Marysville UMC. This free, public event also includes workshops by clergy and hospice workers, along with a light lunch.

Julia will answer common questions, like: what is probate? How are different bequests taxed? What should I think about if I want to leave a gift to charity? And, most importantly, how can I provide for individuals and communities that I love after my lifetime? Here’s a sneak peak of the sermon: Our bodies are time-bound. The stories we tell are not. What does it mean to have temporary bodies and permanent stories? With examples from scripture, tradition, reason, and experience, we’ll consider the ways that people are remembered beyond their lifetimes. We’ll also imagine our own legacies— and how they’re shaped, first and foremost, by God’s love.
